• ARTICLE - a specific item of business

• OVERVOTE - an overvote occurs when a voter selects more candidates or options than are legally allowed for a specific race or ballot question

​

• PETITION ARTICLE - a mechanism that allows citizens to bypass traditional gatekeepers and put a specific issue directly on the ballot or meeting agenda

​

• TOWN WARRANT - the official document that serves as the legal agenda for a town meeting

​

• UNDERVOTE - an undervote occurs when a voter submits a ballot without selecting as many candidates or options as are legally allowed for a specific race

​

• WARRANT ARTICLE - A single, specific item on the Town Warrant (the agenda) that is up for discussion and a vote. Each Warrant Article must be read, debated, and decided on by the town.
